AFP-Wisconsin Blasts Gov. Evers for Revisionist History in Legislative Newsletter
Madison, WI — Americans for Prosperity–Wisconsin (AFP-WI) slammed Gov. Tony Evers Friday for a self-congratulatory email sent to Wisconsinites riddled with errors and distortions about the governor’s latest legislative agenda.
The update outlines how the governor is supposedly working to lower daily costs, reduce the price of healthcare, ease regulations, and provide property tax relief, all in the name of doing “the right thing for Wisconsin,” despite Wisconsin being one of the most heavily taxed and regulated states in the country.
“This so-called agenda from Governor Evers is the most hypocritical, egregious example of twisting facts I’ve seen in a long time,” AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak said. “The governor wants to pat himself on the back on his way out of office, but Wisconsinites won’t be fooled by his revisionist history.”
Let’s see how Gov. Evers’ claims hold up:
- Gov. Evers claims he wants property tax relief, but his veto created a 400-year property tax hike on Wisconsin families.
- Gov. Evers claims he wants to do right by our kids, but he has consistently tried to limit education freedom, taking away opportunities from Wisconsin kids.
- Gov. Evers claims he wants to help farmers, yet his administration has proposed fee hikes and new regulations, including a 1,700% increase on a fee just last fall.
“Every goal and achievement the governor lists is a fairytale,” Novak said. “If Governor Evers had practiced what he is now preaching over the last eight years, then maybe he’d have something to brag about. But facts are stubborn things, and the fact is Governor Evers’ policies have made our lives worse off.”
