AFP-WI: Schumer and Senate Democrats Dysfunction, Not Wisconsin, is to Blame for FoodShare Uncertainty
MADISON, WI — Americans for Prosperity–Wisconsin (AFP-WI) State Director Megan Novak today released the following statement responding to Governor Tony Evers’ comments about the federal government shutdown and the potential interruption of FoodShare funding:
“While Governor Evers and Senator Baldwin remain part of the problem, Sen. Ron Johnson is demonstrating leadership standing up for Wisconsinites by voting 10 plus times to end this shutdown and re-open the government.
“The Governor’s letter is another example of pointing fingers instead of focusing on finding solutions. Until he joins us in calling on Senator Baldwin to vote to reopen government, his words are nothing but empty rhetoric.
“We all agree that families shouldn’t have to worry about putting food on the table—but the answer isn’t blaming Republicans who have voted 10 plus times to reopen the government. Wisconsinites deserve a government that works for them – not one that dodges responsibility and governs by chaos.”
AFP–WI continues to call on Congress to end stopgap governing, balance the budget, and prioritize spending on essential services that people rely on while eliminating the billions wasted on unrelated earmarks and bureaucratic programs that fuel inflation and debt.
