AFP-WI Response to WISC Ruling, Delivering Blow to Fair and Balanced Government
Madison, WI – Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) released the following statement in response to today’s Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision to strip the Legislature of its administrative oversight authority.
“For decades, the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules (JCRAR) has ensured that unelected state agencies remain accountable to the people’s elected representatives,” said AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak. “Unfortunately, the Court’s ruling today weakens the legislature’s role in checks and balances and delivers a serious blow to all Wisconsinites.
“AFP-WI has continuously championed policies that prioritize accountability and transparency in government. Not only is today’s ruling a blow to checks and balances, but it hands more unchecked power to the executive branch and unelected bureaucrats, while weakening the legislature’s role in a fair and balanced government. We are deeply disappointed in the ruling from the court, but unfortunately not surprised by this partisan ruling. AFP-WI remains committed to defending legislative oversight and ensuring that government remains accountable to the citizens of Wisconsin.”
